Together in therapy we will explore your experiences, your feelings, your thoughts, and your behaviours. I want to hear your story. The counselling approach I use is integrative, which means I use a relationship-based foundation and borrow ideas and strategies from various psychotherapy approaches that suit different clients’ needs. It is important that therapist and client work well together because their relationship is the most transformative element of therapy.

“Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.” - Albert Camus

I aim to help my clients feel safe and comfortable to speak to me freely, so that they can try new things in therapy, grow, work through problems, heal, and thrive. I am compassionate and warm and tend to be direct, often using humour, stories and analogies when I work with clients. Some of the approaches I draw from include Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Existential-Humanistic Psychotherapy, Family Systems Therapy, attachment theory and mindfulness.

I am passionate about my work with clients and enjoy working with a great diversity of people and issues.

Two of my particular areas of interest are:

  • mothers and parents, and
  • couples in various stages of their relationships.

For example, I have expertise working with women struggling with starting their families, those adjusting to new motherhood, and parenting transitions, such as the addition of a new child. Also, engaged couples preparing to marry and those in long-term relationships experiencing difficulties.

I am a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta, a member of both the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta, and a founding member and partner at Red Tree Psychology. I earned a Master’s degree in the area of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, Fredericton.

I have worked in diverse settings including elementary schools, non-profit agencies, inner city programs, and private practice clinics. My experience includes work with couples and families as well as individual adults, adolescents and children. I am available for appointments on Tuesdays during the day and Thursday evenings.
